This is living guidance that aims to make the experience of our web estate clear, simple and fast. We want our users to be able to move from one Jisc website to the next and feel at home, understand the interface, and know they’re on one of our sites. These resources are a reference point for everyone building digital products for Jisc.
Find out how to Get started with our guidance
This guidance is provided in order to standardise our approach and unify our services. We create many different kinds of digital services so our guidance is intentionally generic to meet the broadest range of use cases. It’s a framework to learn from and be guided by but, most importantly, to explore and expand on.
The guidance has been centred around basics of page layout, design patterns, visual style and interaction, to help meet the most common challenges. But it’s not intended to be a perfect solution.
Whether you’re a writer, designer or developer these resources will help steer your direction and approach in a consistent way. Following this guidance we can create sites that work individually, work together, and work for our users.
All Jisc services need solid foundations. Whether you’re designing a service from scratch or updating an existing site, our foundations provide you with the key experience and brand elements that you need to ensure you provide a consistent experience for our users.
Share and learn
We believe iteration is a vital part of any design process and want to continually evolve and expand these resources through feedback.
